Over 1,100 local and international participants gathered in the Island Garden City of Samal on Sunday for the Damosa Land 5150 triathlon, marking the year’s largest 5150 race weekend in the Philippines.
Organized by Sunrise Events Inc., the event features a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer coastal bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run, alongside a shorter Sunrise Sprint distance and the Philippine Sports Commission-supported Filipino Elite Category. Athletes from 14 countries—including Australia, France, the United States, and the Philippines—are competing in the race.
The Samal leg serves as the grand finale of the 2026 5150 Islands of the Philippines campaign, which previously hosted events in Guimaras, Camiguin, and Bohol to promote sports tourism, local culture, and community engagement across the archipelago.
