The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced the suspension of the expanded number coding scheme on March 20 in observance of Eid’l Fitr.
The move followed the declaration of the date as a regular holiday by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., marking the end of Ramadan for the Muslim community.
The agency said traffic restrictions are automatically lifted during official and special non-working holidays.
It explained that motorists will not be covered by the number coding scheme for the day, in line with standard policy during holidays.
Authorities advised the public to plan their trips ahead, especially with the expected increase in travel during the long weekend.
Motorists were also reminded to exercise caution on the roads to avoid accidents amid heavier traffic flow.
Eid’l Fitr is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, observed through prayers, gatherings, and other activities with family and community.
Earlier, Marcos encouraged Filipino Muslims to uphold values of kindness and understanding during Ramadan and beyond.
