In an incredible turn of events, Valerie, a miniature dachshund, has been found safe on Kangaroo Island in South Australia after being missing for over 500 days.
Valerie went missing in November 2023 during a camping trip with her owners, Josh and Georgia. After a massive search effort, involving over 1,000 hours and covering 5,000 kilometers, wildlife rescuers from the Kangala Wildlife Rescue charity finally located Valerie using a remote trap.
Currently, Valerie is adjusting to life off the island and is expected to stay there for another week before being reunited with her owners. Josh and Georgia are on their way to bring her home.
This heartwarming rescue highlights the dedication and perseverance of wildlife rescuers, as well as the strong bond between humans and their pets.
