Miss Universe Chief Denies Rigging Claims, Calls Accuser an ‘Opportunist’

Miss Universe Organization (MUO) president Raul Rocha has broken his silence following a wave of online allegations suggesting that the results of this year’s pageant were fixed. The controversy erupted after French-Lebanese musician Omar Harfouch publicly claimed he resigned from the judging panel just days before the coronation, alleging that the winner, Mexico’s Fatima Bosch, had been pre-selected due to her family’s supposed links to Rocha.

Rocha swiftly shot down the accusations in a series of Instagram posts, dismissing Harfouch’s statements as fabricated and attention-seeking. Without naming him directly, Rocha referred to the musician as an “opportunist” who was trying to ride on the pageant’s global visibility.

“The only truth is that no judge resigned,” Rocha wrote. “A musician nobody knew suddenly tried to use Miss Universe to gain followers. Anyone with common sense can see that.”

Rocha added that MUO is preparing legal action and expressed confidence that “the truth about who he is, and what his real intentions are, will soon come to light.”

He also underscored that Miss Universe operates entirely as a private entity. “We do not receive government funding, nor do we accept public sponsorships. Judges are not paid, and MUO shoulders all expenses for those who join the panel,” he explained, countering insinuations that the judging process was compromised.

As for the outcome of the 74th Miss Universe competition, Rocha said the results reflected the independent judgment of the panel. “The results speak for themselves, and we are only a few days in,” he added, implying that early controversy was expected but unfounded.

In a separate post, Rocha addressed speculation surrounding his ownership stake in MUO. He clarified that his acquisition of 50 percent of the organization had no ties whatsoever to the Bosch family and that he only met them two months before the Miss Universe Mexico selection event.

“It is completely false—and impossible—to suggest that any contract or business relationship influenced the contestant’s victory,” he said in Spanish.

Despite the noise, MUO has maintained that the competition was conducted fairly, and Rocha insists the organization stands by its judges’ decisions. The controversy continues to spread online, but MUO is firm: no judge backed out, no results were manipulated, and the allegations are baseless.
