Two low-magnitude earthquakes were recorded in Calatagan, Batangas on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The stronger tremor, measured at magnitude 3.2, occurred at 8:05 a.m., with its epicenter located offshore about 11 kilometers southwest of the town
Phivolcs said the quake originated at a depth of 111 kilometers.
Earlier, a weaker magnitude 1.6 earthquake was detected at 6:08 a.m., around 3 kilometers southeast of Calatagan, at a depth of 105 kilometers.
Both seismic events were classified as tectonic, caused by the movement of rocks beneath the Earth’s surface.
The agency said the tremors were not expected to result in damage or generate aftershocks.
