Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has upgraded its Camarin Substation to strengthen electricity reliability for customers in Caloocan City and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, as demand continues to grow in these fast-developing areas.

The power distributor said the upgrade includes the installation of a new 83-megavolt amperes (MVA) power transformer bank, a 34.5-kilovolt (kV) Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), four 115-kV power circuit breakers, and eight 115-kV disconnect switches.

The enhancement is expected to support rising power requirements in key parts of North Caloocan and portions of San Jose del Monte, including major commercial and industrial customers such as Maynilad Water Services–La Mesa Water, SM Deparo, SM San Jose del Monte, Regan Industrial Sales Inc., and Converge J3 Caloocan DC.

Meralco said the project forms part of its continuing efforts to modernize its distribution network and deliver more stable, efficient, and dependable service to homes, businesses, and industries across its franchise area.

As electricity demand expands alongside urban and commercial growth, the company continues to invest in infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving service quality and ensuring the network is equipped to meet future needs.
