As electricity returns to most flood-hit areas, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, is shifting its focus to delivering aid to communities affected by the relentless rains brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

Through the One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the company has deployed employee volunteers to distribute much-needed relief packs, already reaching over 2,600 families across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Among the areas served are Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Quezon City, Taguig, and Pateros in Metro Manila; Bulacan towns like Bustos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Obando, and San Jose Del Monte; Rizal’s Cainta, Montalban, and San Mateo; Laguna’s Calamba, Calauan, San Pablo, Sta. Cruz, and Sta. Rosa; and the Cavite towns of Amadeo, Dasmariñas, and Ternate.

Meralco’s distribution facilities remain in good condition following the impact of the southwest
monsoon, with electricity service back to normal in nearly all areas, except for locations that remain
affected by flooding.

While relief operations continue, Meralco assured the public that it remains ready to restore power in areas still affected by flooding as soon as it’s deemed safe. Fortunately, most of Meralco’s distribution facilities were not severely impacted, with electricity service back to normal in almost all locations.

“We’re deeply grateful to our customers for their patience, and to the Department of Energy and local government units for working closely with us to restore power safely and quickly,” said Froilan J. Savet, Meralco First Vice President and Head of Networks.

He also reaffirmed Meralco’s commitment to ongoing recovery efforts: “We are closely monitoring flooded areas, especially in Bulacan, and will restore electricity as soon as the waters recede.”
