Meralco powers Cavite’s growth with new high-capacity substation

CAVITE, Philippines — Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has further strengthened the power infrastructure of Cavite with the energization of its newly built Osorio (Conchu) Substation, a key investment that will improve electricity reliability, expand system capacity, and support the province’s continued economic and urban growth.

The new substation is equipped with an 83-megavolt ampere (MVA) power transformer bank, three 115-kilovolt (kV) gas circuit breakers, six 115-kV disconnect switches, newly constructed 115-kV sub-transmission lines, and a control house featuring a 34.5-kV indoor modular switchgear. Together, these upgrades enhance the resilience and flexibility of Meralco’s distribution network.

With the additional capacity, customers in Trece Martires City and General Trias can expect a more stable and reliable power supply, reducing the risk of service interruptions while supporting the growing demand from homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and government offices.

The enhanced network will benefit major institutions in the area, including Trece Martires City Hall, City of General Trias Doctors Medical Center Inc., Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Eagle Ridge Golf and Residential Estates, helping ensure uninterrupted operations and supporting the delivery of essential services.

The energization of the Osorio (Conchu) Substation is part of Meralco’s broader commitment to continuously invest in its distribution system to keep pace with the rapid development of the communities it serves. By expanding and modernizing its network, the company is reinforcing the reliability of the electric grid while helping create an environment that supports investments, businesses, and better quality of life for customers.

As demand for electricity continues to grow, Meralco remains focused on building a stronger, more resilient distribution network capable of delivering safe, reliable, and efficient power to millions of Filipinos across its franchise area.
