Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the country’s largest power distributor led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has entered a groundbreaking partnership with two of Vietnam’s leading electric mobility pioneers—V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corporation and Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (Green GSM)—to help fast-track the Philippines’ shift to sustainable transportation.

Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MOU), Meralco, V-Green, and Green GSM will work together to develop electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and green mobility solutions across Metro Manila and other key cities. This strategic alliance aims to accelerate the deployment of EV charging stations, build electric taxi hubs, and foster technology sharing and system design collaboration to boost EV adoption nationwide.

“This partnership with Meralco marks a key milestone in V-Green’s mission to accelerate the green mobility revolution in Southeast Asia. By combining our expertise in EV charging infrastructure with Meralco’s strong local presence, we aim to rapidly deploy a reliable and accessible charging network across the Philippines. Together with VinFast and Green GSM, we are proud to contribute to a comprehensive EV ecosystem that supports the country’s journey towards a cleaner and more sustainable future,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green.

Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines, echoed this optimism, highlighting the country’s potential as a hub for clean mobility. “The Philippines is a vibrant and fast-growing market where we see strong momentum for clean mobility solutions. Through this collaboration with Meralco and V-Green, Green GSM is excited to expand our 100% electric ride-hailing service to more cities nationwide. Our goal is not only to provide safe, convenient, and affordable transportation, but also to play an active role in building a greener future for Filipino communities.”

As part of its sustainability goals and support for the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, Meralco aims to strengthen the country’s EV ecosystem by facilitating widespread access to integrated charging and mobility infrastructure.

“This partnership brings together our collective strength in infrastructure, technology, and experience that will redefine our cities and our communities. Together, we intend to reframe the way we think about energy, transport, and sustainability,” said Meralco Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

“We are committed to helping build this ecosystem – one that is future-ready, inclusive and grounded in service. We want Filipinos to experience the future of transport, not just in Metro Manila, but across the archipelago,” he added.

V-Green is a pioneer in EV infrastructure development in Vietnam and serves as the exclusive charging partner for VinFast, the country’s top EV manufacturer. Green GSM, on the other hand, operates a 100% electric ride-hailing service powered by VinFast EVs and is focused on making green transportation widely accessible.

Together, V-Green, Green GSM, and VinFast are now extending their vision to the Philippines, creating an integrated e-mobility ecosystem—from electric vehicle distribution to charging infrastructure and ride-hailing services. The goal: to make EVs more accessible to Filipinos and lay the groundwork for a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable transport future.
