This year’s results mark Meralco’s all-time best showing at what many call the Olympics of the workplace, cementing its reputation as a regional leader in sustainability, innovation, transparency, and purpose-driven leadership.
Meralco captured five Gold Stevie Awards for programs that showcased how the country’s largest power distributor is reshaping the energy landscape across Asia and the Pacific.
Its flagship sustainability agenda, Powering the Good Life, earned top recognition as the Sustainability Leadership Award in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand for reframing energy as a catalyst for national progress and community upliftment.
Greening the Network, Meralco’s climate-resilience and grid-strengthening initiative, brought home the Gold for Sustainability Initiative of the Year for embedding long-term environmental responsibility into core infrastructure—an essential strategy for an era defined by extreme weather and rising energy demand.
In the Video category for Sustainability and Environment, A Global Breakthrough: MTerra Solar, the World’s Largest Integrated Solar and Battery Facility, won Gold for its powerful visual storytelling that underscored the Philippines’ accelerating transition toward cleaner, more secure energy.
Meralco also earned Gold in Corporate & Community – B2B Event through Meralco Powerhouse, a landmark investor and analyst engagement that highlighted the company’s operational resilience, ambitious growth trajectory, and commitment to human-centered, transparent leadership.
Rounding out the Gold winners was Meralco Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo, named Sustainability Hero of the Year for championing sustainability as a business imperative and transforming it into a platform for inclusive, future-ready growth.
“These awards are a tribute to the nearly 20,000 women and men of One Meralco who work passionately not only to keep the lights on for more than eight million customers, but to power the good life for all,” Ravelo said. “This achievement energizes us to keep pushing forward—both as a power company and as a force for inclusive national progress.”
Meralco’s excellence continued with eight Silver Stevie Awards recognizing its deep commitment to responsible leadership, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. These included distinctions for diversity and inclusion, ESG integration, circular economy practices, and innovative corporate events.
One Meralco Foundation and its president, Jeffrey O. Tarayao, also emerged as key honorees—earning praise for electrifying underserved communities, advancing grassroots development, and shaping national-impact programs that strengthen Meralco’s social mission.
“We thank our peers around the world for recognizing the value our initiatives bring to the communities we serve,” Tarayao said. “We remain committed to enabling empowerment and self-reliance wherever Meralco is present.”
The company capped its milestone year with two Bronze awards, including a Video category win for BulacanSol: Road to a Coal-Free Future by 2050, and recognition for its 2023 Annual and Sustainability Report, Pangako (Promise), celebrated for its transparency and clarity.
Stevie Awards President Maggie Miller lauded this year’s winners for “remarkable ambition and achievement,” noting that the 2025 IBA once again set a global standard for business excellence.
Since 2002, the International Business Awards have been among the most prestigious global honors for companies and professionals whose contributions drive meaningful change and corporate impact. This year’s victories place Meralco among the world’s best-performing organizations—not only in energy, but across all sectors striving to build a more sustainable and inclusive future.
