Mega Prime Foods, Inc., maker of Mega Sardines—the country’s top sardine brand and the world’s first sardine “superfood” recognized by the Medical Wellness Association—kicks off National Sardines Month 2025 with a powerful celebration of community, nutrition, and the Filipino heroes behind every can.
The company launched its month-long SardinaSaya festivities with a vibrant community outreach event on November 5 at the Malabon Sports Center, where residents enjoyed games, gift-giving, and interactive activities that sparked high energy and even higher turnout.
The celebration continued on November 13 at the Star Arena in Baliuag, Bulacan, where the local government joined hands with Mega Prime Foods for a day filled with cooking demos featuring nutritious Mega Sardines recipes, a lively Zumba session, family games, and the Super Food, Super Sarap showcase. Influencer Tommy Tiangco joined the fun, bringing added excitement to the growing Ka-Mega community.

The festivities head next to the Danao Civic Center in Danao City, Cebu on November 29, extending the joy of SardinaSaya nationwide with more family-focused activities, cooking demonstrations, and interactive games designed to highlight the versatility and nutritional value of Mega Sardines.
Anchoring the month’s celebrations is the Heroes’ Welcome in Zamboanga on November 18—a cherished tradition that serves as the emotional core of National Sardines Month. Held at the close of every fishing season, the ceremony honors the fishermen whose dedication ensures Mega Sardines’ signature 12-hour catch-to-can freshness.
The event includes a tribute program, a communal salu-salo, messages of gratitude from Mega Prime Foods executives, and recognition awards for outstanding contributors whose work keeps Filipino households nourished year-round.
Mega Prime Foods continues to honor its legacy built since 1975, when founder William Tiu Lim established the company with a commitment to freshness, quality, and community. From its beginnings in Bicol to its expanded operations in Zamboanga, Mega Sardines has grown into a trusted household staple—available in Tomato Sauce, Spanish Style, Natural Oil, and Fried Sardines variants—providing Filipino families with convenient, nutritious, and affordable meals.
“Our fishermen and the Ka-Mega community are at the heart of everything we do,” said Malcolm Tiu Lim, Chief Technical and Innovations Officer of Mega Prime Foods Inc. “We remain committed to delivering nutritious, high-quality food and strengthening the bonds within the communities we serve.”
As National Sardines Month brings communities together across the country, Mega Prime Foods underscores the importance of sustainable fishing, responsible sourcing, and the livelihoods supported by the sardine industry. Each celebration reaffirms the company’s belief that nutrition, quality, and genuine care for people must always go hand in hand.
