McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang formally opens the company’s 800th store in Davao City, marking a significant milestone in its continued nationwide expansion.
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — McDonald’s Philippines hit a significant milestone on June 30 with the opening of its 800th store, located at the heart of the fast-growing Davao Global Township in Davao del Sur. This latest branch underscores the company’s continued expansion and long-term commitment to the Philippine market.
The launch of the milestone store coincided with the renewal of a 20-year master franchise agreement between McDonald’s Corporation and Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), led by Chairman and Founder Dr. George T. Yang and President & CEO Kenneth S. Yang. The new agreement grants the Yangs full operational and sub-franchising rights for the McDonald’s brand in the Philippines until 2045. Their partnership with McDonald’s began in 1981 with the opening of the first branch in Morayta, Manila.
“The opening of our 800th store is a reflection of our enduring commitment to serving Filipino communities. It’s not just about growth in numbers—it’s about deepening the trust and connection we’ve built with our customers over four decades,” said Kenneth Yang. “With more stores to come, we’re excited to continue delivering feel-good moments across the country.”

Located at Matina Galleria along Gen. Douglas MacArthur Highway in Talomo, the new 179-seater branch is open 24/7 and features dine-in, take-out, ride-thru, and McDelivery services. It also includes a Party Area for special events and is the first in the city to introduce a “Bike & Dine” feature, catering to the growing community of cyclists.
With the opening of its 800th store, McDonald’s continues to be a key job generator in local communities. Nearly 100 residents from Davao City and neighboring areas have been hired as crew members and managers through direct recruitment. Currently, McDonald’s Philippines employs over 65,000 individuals nationwide, 70% of whom are working students. The company offers competitive wages, full government-mandated benefits, and professional development programs through structured training.

A greener, smarter store
The new Davao Global Township store is McDonald’s 8th Green & Good flagship branch. Aligned with the company’s sustainability push, the store is equipped with solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, motion-sensing lighting, LED fixtures, and a more efficient air-conditioning system. It also promotes eco-friendly transport by offering bike-friendly amenities like the Bike & Dine station—an increasingly popular feature among the brand’s newer locations.
Other Green & Good stores can be found in UN Del Pilar (Manila), Shaw Boulevard Wack-Wack (Mandaluyong), Mambugan (Antipolo), Delos Reyes (Tagaytay), Nuvali (Sta. Rosa, Laguna), Sta. Monica Commonwealth (Quezon City), and Ayala Crescendo (Tarlac).
Community-centered launch
Ahead of the official opening, McDonald’s reaffirmed its community-first philosophy by distributing 800 meals from its Kindness Kitchen to underprivileged residents of Barangay Matina Aplaya CDC and the nearby Badjao community.
The launch festivities included a giveaway of free 1-pc Chicken McDo meals to the first 800 customers. A commemorative store marker honoring Kenneth Yang was also unveiled during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The marker serves as a tribute to his leadership and the company’s purposeful growth guided by values, innovation, and service excellence.
With its 800th store now open, McDonald’s Philippines signals that it’s not slowing down anytime soon—further deepening its roots in local communities while pushing forward with sustainable and inclusive growth.
