Mayon Volcano emitted volcanic ash on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

Phivolcs said the ash event occurred around 1:05 p.m. and shared a timelapse video on its Facebook page.

The eruption produced a grayish-brown plume that rose about 1,000 meters above the crater before drifting west-southwest.

In the previous 24 hours, the volcano released lava flowing 3.8 kilometers into the Basud gully, 2.2 kilometers into Bonga gully, and 1.3 kilometers into Mi-isi gully.

Phivolcs recorded four volcanic earthquakes, 305 rockfall events, and 20 pyroclastic density current signals during the same period.

The state volcanology bureau said alert level 3 remained in effect, indicating intensified or magmatic unrest at the volcano.

Under this alert level, authorities prohibited entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone around the volcano.

Residents and visitors were advised to remain vigilant and avoid areas near the volcano while monitoring updates from Phivolcs.
