Dallas center Dereck Lively II will stay out for at least three more games because of swelling and pain in his right foot, the team said on Tuesday.
He already sat out the last two games. Doctors will check him again in about a week.
Lively dealt with issues in the same foot last season and played only 36 games. He had surgery in the offseason to remove bone spurs.
This year, he has played only seven games. He’s averaging 4.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 16.4 minutes. His last game was on Friday against the Pelicans, where he posted four points and four rebounds in 18 minutes.
Lively, the 12th pick in the 2023 draft, holds career averages of 8.4 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 72.8% from the field.
Dallas, now 5–14, opened its four-game road trip with a 106–102 loss to Miami on Monday.
