Mastercard has named Jason Crasto as its new Country Manager for the Philippines, reinforcing the company’s commitment to driving digital transformation and financial inclusion in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing payments markets.
In his new role, Crasto will lead Mastercard’s overall strategy and operations in the Philippines, focusing on accelerating the nation’s shift toward smart, secure, and inclusive digital payments. He will work closely with both government and private sector partners to support the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ goal of building a cash-lite economy.
With over 20 years of experience in the payments and financial services industry, Crasto brings a strong track record of innovation across consumer, commercial, and digital payment solutions. Since joining Mastercard in 2020, he has played a key role in managing strategic client relationships, expanding digital ecosystems, and advancing card and commercial payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of consumers and businesses.
“Jason’s leadership and deep understanding of the payments landscape will be instrumental as Mastercard continues to champion digital and financial inclusion in the Philippines,” said Safdar Khan, Division President for Southeast Asia at Mastercard. “His vision and experience position him perfectly to lead our next phase of growth in this dynamic market.”
Crasto expressed enthusiasm about his new role, saying, “It’s an incredible honor to lead Mastercard’s operations in the Philippines at such an exciting time for digital innovation. I look forward to working with our exceptional team, partners, and customers to expand access to cutting-edge payment solutions that empower Filipinos and drive inclusive economic growth. I’m equally eager to immerse myself in the local community and experience the country’s rich and vibrant culture.”
Crasto’s appointment comes amid rapid digital adoption in the Philippines. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, digital payments accounted for over 57% of retail transactions in 2024—a milestone reflecting the country’s growing embrace of financial technology. Crasto’s extensive experience in scaling digital ecosystems across South Asia is expected to help sustain this growth trajectory and unlock new opportunities for innovation and inclusion.
Before joining Mastercard, Crasto held senior roles across global payment networks, banks, and loyalty platforms, where he honed his expertise in business development, product management, and portfolio strategy. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics.
