Marcos visits TESDA training facilities, highlights importance of tech-voc education

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday visited the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) compound in Taguig City to inspect various training facilities aimed at equipping Filipinos with technical and vocational skills for modern industries.

During the visit, the President toured workshops and facilities showcasing hands-on learning and industry collaboration, including the TESDA-Petron Car Care Center, TESDA-Honda Training Room, and TESDA-Daikin Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Training Center.

He was welcomed by TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez, who emphasized TESDA’s broader mission of empowering Filipinos through skills development.

“TESDA’s mission goes beyond training — it is about transforming lives and preparing Filipinos for a rapidly changing world of work. With the President’s guidance, we will continue to strengthen partnerships with industry and integrate technology-driven and gender-responsive programs across all training centers,” Benitez said.

The visit aligns with President Marcos’ message in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), where he underscored the importance of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) in improving employment opportunities and lifelong learning.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to integrating tech-voc education into the Senior High School curriculum to better prepare students for the workforce.

“Mga magulang, sulitin na ninyo ang mga pagkakataong ito! Dahil hangad natin na sa lalong madaling panahon, ang bawat isang pamilyang Pilipino ay mayroong anak na nakapagtapos ng kolehiyo o sa TESDA,” Marcos said in his SONA.

To further support this initiative, the President announced that almost PHP60 billion will be allocated for free education in public colleges and technical-vocational institutions.
