President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday led the unveiling of Philippine Airlines’ newest aircraft, using the event to reiterate his administration’s push to modernize the country’s aviation sector.
Speaking at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, Marcos said the rollout of PAL’s first Airbus A350-1000 reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening air transport as a driver of economic growth.
He stressed that aviation plays a critical role in expanding connectivity, supporting tourism and trade, and keeping the Philippines competitive in a fast-changing global industry.
Marcos cited PAL’s decades-long role in linking Filipinos to the world, noting that the new long-range aircraft opens opportunities for more efficient intercontinental routes.
The President also pointed to ongoing airport and terminal projects across the country as part of a wider effort to upgrade infrastructure and improve passenger experience.
He said the government is working closely with private partners to modernize major gateways, including the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, to ensure safer and more seamless travel.
The launch of the aircraft coincided with PAL’s 85th anniversary, an occasion Marcos said underscores the airline’s place in national development as the aviation sector moves toward modernization.
