Marcos reviewing LWUA report on PrimeWater services – Palace

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is currently reviewing a comprehensive report submitted by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) regarding PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp., a water concessionaire owned by the Villar family, following increasing consumer complaints about its services.

In a press briefing at Malacañang on Tuesday, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro revealed that the LWUA’s submission includes a detailed folder and two balikbayan boxes filled with documents related to PrimeWater’s operations.

“Ito po’y aaralin at asahan niyo po na mabilisang aaralin ito para sa mga consumers ng PrimeWater (This will be studied thoroughly, and you can expect a prompt review for the benefit of PrimeWater consumers),” Castro stated.

She assured the public that the Palace is preparing appropriate legal steps in response to the findings.

“Gagawa tayo ng ligal na aksyon. Aksyon na naaayon sa batas, walang masasagasaan, pero dapat para sa taumbayan (We will take legal action. Action that is in accordance with the law, no one will be unfairly treated, but it must serve the people),” she added.

PrimeWater, which operates under joint venture agreements with several local water districts, has faced complaints in recent years regarding reported service interruptions and inconsistent supply in various parts of the country.

The LWUA report comes in response to mounting calls from local government officials and consumer groups for the government to review its public-private partnerships concerning water service delivery.
