President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has authorized a comprehensive government plan intended to fast-track the expansion of internet infrastructure across the Philippines.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said on Monday that the President approved the National Digital Connectivity Plan, a long-term framework that sets the direction for improving broadband access nationwide.

The DICT explained that the plan responds to persistent gaps in connectivity, particularly in far-flung and underserved communities where internet services remain limited or unreliable.

Under the strategy, the government will prioritize the rollout of key broadband facilities to support growing digital needs in education, business, and public services.

Officials said wider and more efficient infrastructure is expected to help ease the cost of internet access, benefiting households and enterprises alike.

The agency noted that stronger digital connectivity is also seen as a driver of economic growth, innovation, and improved delivery of government services.

With the plan now approved, the DICT said it will begin coordinating with other agencies and private partners to translate the roadmap into concrete projects on the ground.
