President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the vital role of airports and connectivity infrastructure in driving the country’s economic growth, underscoring their significance for business, tourism, and international diplomacy.
Speaking after the inauguration of Mactan-Cebu International Airport’s second runway on Thursday, Marcos said strong connectivity is essential for maintaining the country’s integration into the global economy.
“Sabihin mo na lang na walang airport, paano tayo? Maiwanan tayo ng buong mundo. You can not be part of the global community and the global economy if you do not have connectivity. So, that’s what airports serve,” he said.
Marcos also highlighted how airports bolster international partnerships and enhance the efficiency of government services and business operations across the nation.
He reiterated that developing infrastructure, particularly airports, is a priority for his administration.
“This isn’t just about international relations; it’s about improving public service delivery and supporting the business community as well,” the President said.
