President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the public that government agencies are fully prepared to respond to the impact of Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa).
“Nakatanggap tayo ng mga ulat mula sa iba’t ibang probinsya ukol sa Bagyong Nando. Malalakas ang hangin na nararanasan, ngunit sa ngayon ay hindi pa malakas ang ulan,” Marcos said in a statement.
He added that preemptive evacuations have been carried out and evacuees’ needs are being addressed. “May mga isinagawang preemptive evacuation at tinutugunan agad natin ang pangangailangan ng mga nasa evacuation centers,” he said.
The President also emphasized that all government agencies remain on standby. “Mahigpit nating mino-monitor ang sitwasyon, at naka-alerto ang lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan upang makapagbigay ng tulong saanman at kailanman kailanganin,” he said.
According to PAGASA, Nando maintained its strength and may pass close or make landfall over Babuyan Islands by noon or afternoon Monday. Signal No. 5 is now raised over parts of Babuyan Islands, including Babuyan, Didicas, Panuitan, and Calayan.
Malacañang also ordered the suspension of classes and government work in Metro Manila and other areas due to the cyclone threat.
