Marcos evaluates cabinet undersecretaries

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced that he is evaluating the performance of the cabinet undersecretaries to determine who shall remain following the changes he made by requesting the resignations of his cabinet.

“This time, it looks like the others (secretaries) are doing well, and the performance is good. Now, we’re already at usec, we’re already at the agencies,” he said in an ambush interview.

Marcos clarified that he is not initiating a cabinet reshuffle but is instead reviewing the performance of members to ensure that government agencies are effectively carrying out their mandates.

He added that performance assessments of agency heads would be conducted regularly, with evaluations set to take place every quarter.

“What essentially, what you call, what you refer to as a Cabinet revamp, it’s not a one-shot, one-time, big-time thing.”

“It is an ongoing thing. This is something; it essentially puts all government agencies and departments on notice that we have to do better. And we will be looking very, very closely and we will make that review on a periodic basis,” he added.

The President indicated that the public should anticipate further adjustments in leadership roles across various government agencies in the coming months.

He explained that these potential changes are part of a broader effort to improve efficiency, accountability, and ensure that top officials are delivering on their responsibilities and meeting the performance standards expected of them.

“Not only at the top level, but all the way. All the way. And that’s why we’ll see, I’m sure you will see more changes in the future.”
