President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday expressed confidence in the administration-aligned senatorial slate under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition, saying its candidates are capable of continuing and strengthening the government’s development agenda.
Addressing a crowd of supporters at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City, Marcos said the Alyansa ticket brings both experience and competence, positioning them to sustain the gains of his administration over the past three years.
“As long as they are in place, you can count on them to continue the positive momentum and meaningful projects we have initiated to uplift the lives of Filipinos,” the president told the audience.
Highlighting key achievements, Marcos pointed to the Philippines’ 2024 average unemployment rate of 3.8%—the lowest since 2005, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority—as a sign of ongoing economic recovery and progress.
“I’m pleased to share that last year, we recorded the lowest unemployment rate in nearly two decades,” he said.
Marcos also underscored major infrastructure projects like the LRT-1 Cavite Extension and the continued development of roads, bridges, ports, flood control systems, and irrigation dams nationwide. These efforts, he said, address long-standing issues in transport, agriculture, and employment.
Looking ahead to the remainder of his term, Marcos emphasized the importance of electing senators who will support and expand the administration’s initiatives beyond 2028.
“I see it as my responsibility to grow these projects that bring real service to our people,” he said. “Victories like these are not just numbers—they must translate into real improvements in the lives of ordinary Filipinos.”
He urged voters to choose leaders who will build on current momentum, stressing that sustained reforms are vital to national progress.
“These candidates will carry forward the successes and initiatives we’ve started—to better every Filipino’s life and to strengthen our beloved nation,” he said.
The Alyansa coalition’s senatorial lineup includes former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, incumbent senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Francis Tolentino; former senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and Vicente Sotto III; and House representatives Erwin Tulfo and Camille Villar.
The coalition is supported by five political parties: Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Lakas-CMD, Nacionalista Party, National Unity Party, and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
