MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with officials of Mitsubishi Corporation and Ayala Corporation in Singapore on Sunday, October 11, to discuss Mitsubishi’s USD 700-million investment in Ayala, which is expected to become one of the largest foreign equity investments in the Philippines in recent years.
The meeting highlighted continued investment cooperation between Philippine and Japanese companies, particularly in infrastructure, technology and digital financial services.
During the discussions, representatives of Mitsubishi and Ayala also updated the President on the progress of agreements signed during his state visit to Tokyo, Japan, in May 2026.
Among the initiatives discussed was the development of the Philippines’ first Intelligent City project in Makati, aimed at integrating advanced technologies and digital solutions into urban development.
The two companies also provided updates on partnerships intended to expand digital financial services through GCash, one of the country’s major mobile payment platforms.
The planned initiatives are expected to support the Philippines’ efforts to attract foreign investment, accelerate digital transformation and strengthen economic cooperation with Japan.
The meeting formed part of the Marcos administration’s continuing engagement with international investors to encourage business expansion and investment opportunities in the Philippines.
