President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has set special non-working days in six areas to allow residents to participate in local celebrations.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1162 on February 9, declaring March 20 a non-working day in San Fernando City, La Union for its founding anniversary.
March 10 was designated a special non-working day in Tanauan City, Batangas, under Proclamation No. 1164, in honor of the city’s 25th anniversary of cityhood.
The same day, Norala in South Cotabato observed a non-working day to celebrate its founding anniversary, according to Proclamation No. 1165.
Proclamation No. 1166 set March 13 as a special non-working day in Bauko, Mountain Province for the Begnas di Bauko Festival, a thanksgiving event honoring ancestors and the deity Kabunyan for a bountiful harvest.
Proclamation No. 1167 declared March 18 a non-working day in Masbate province to mark its 125th founding anniversary. Recto signed Proclamations 1164, 1165, 1166, and 1167 on February 11.
On March 16, Aguilar, Pangasinan celebrated the Ansakket Festival with a special non-working day, as stated in Proclamation No. 1168, signed on February 12.
The Ansakket Festival highlights gratitude for a good harvest and showcases the town’s signature delicacy, cakes made from glutinous rice, known locally as ansakket.
