President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared Nov. 16 to 18, 2026 as special non-working days across the National Capital Region to help ease traffic and strengthen security during the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Under Proclamation No. 1447, signed on Sept. 17 by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by authority of the President, the three-day declaration covers the entire NCR.
The proclamation said the special non-working days were intended to reduce traffic congestion and help authorities ensure the safety and security of delegates and other participants during the regional meetings.
The declaration covers Monday, Nov. 16, through Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The Philippines is hosting the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in November as part of its 2026 chairship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The government has also been holding a series of high-level ASEAN meetings in September and October ahead of the summit.
