President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City mayor Lino Cayetano as the new general manager of People’s Television Network Channel 4, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.

The Presidential Communications Office said the appointment was officially relayed by Secretary Dave Gomez, noting that Cayetano will now head the state-run broadcaster under the PCO.

Cayetano, a former public official, is the brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano.

He replaced Malou Choa-Fagar, who assumed the post in August 2025 after previously working in the entertainment and television industry.

Gomez said Cayetano brings experience from both government service and media-related work, which was seen as an advantage in leading the network.

He added that the administration expects PTV-4 to strengthen its programming and adapt to the evolving media landscape under new leadership.

The appointment comes amid continued restructuring in government communications agencies under the Marcos administration.

Officials have not provided details yet on Cayetano’s first directives or assumption date for the post.
