President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a Php 120 billion investment by the MVP Group, in partnership with the SM Group, to construct an elevated expressway connecting Balintawak in Quezon City to Bocaue, Bulacan.
The President disclosed the planned infrastructure investment on Thursday, October 29, as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and improve travel efficiency between Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
The proposed Balintawak-Bocaue Elevated Expressway aims to provide motorists with an additional road connection along the busy North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) corridor.
The project is expected to help reduce congestion, particularly during peak travel hours, while improving the movement of passengers, commercial vehicles and cargo between the National Capital Region and neighboring provinces.
The planned investment highlights the partnership between two major Philippine business groups in developing transportation infrastructure intended to address increasing traffic demand.
The MVP Group, which has investments in toll road operations and other infrastructure businesses, will work with the SM Group on the proposed expressway.
Once completed, the elevated road is expected to offer motorists another travel option between Balintawak and Bocaue, potentially reducing travel times and improving access to areas north of Metro Manila.
The project also supports the administration’s Build Better More infrastructure program, which seeks to strengthen transportation networks and improve connectivity across the country.
Further details on the construction timetable, project specifications and target completion date have yet to be announced.
The proposed expressway is among the major private-sector infrastructure investments aimed at improving road connectivity and addressing traffic congestion along key transportation routes.
