President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the voluntary resignations of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, who stepped down amid the escalating controversy over alleged budget irregularities and corruption claims.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced on Monday that Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary, placing him at the center of Malacañang’s day-to-day operations and policy coordination. Budget Undersecretary Rolando Toledo has been named officer in charge of the Department of Budget and Management, ensuring continuity while the administration works to stabilize the agency.
Marcos also tapped Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go as the new Finance Secretary, completing a swift reshuffle of his top economic team.
The Palace said the reorganization aims to restore public confidence, strengthen fiscal management, and maintain momentum in the administration’s economic priorities following the controversy.
