Malacañang on Tuesday dismissed rumors of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto’s alleged resignation. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed in a text message to reporters that the reports are unfounded.
“Not true,” Castro said.
The denial comes amid social media rumors suggesting a new Department of Finance secretary would be announced by November. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appointed Recto as DOF head in January 2024.
Recto, a former lawmaker, briefly served as National Economic and Development Authority chief during the Arroyo administration in 2008. In May 2025, he submitted a courtesy resignation following Marcos’ directive for Cabinet recalibration, but Marcos rejected it, reaffirming his trust in Recto’s leadership.Copy message
