Malacañang has declared special non-working holidays in Minalin, Pampanga, and Tupi, South Cotabato, allowing residents to celebrate their founding anniversaries. Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, by authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., signed Proclamations 999 and 1000 on August 14 and 18, respectively.
Proclamation 999 designates August 27 as a special non-working day in Minalin, which will celebrate its 411th founding anniversary. Known as the “Egg Basket of Central Luzon,” Minalin is recognized for its thriving poultry and egg industry, as well as its agricultural products and cultural traditions.
Meanwhile, Proclamation 1000 sets September 11 as a special non-working day in Tupi to mark its 72nd founding anniversary, coinciding with the 16th Agten Tufi Festival. Tupi, often referred to as the “Fruit, Vegetable and Flower Basket of South Cotabato,” is located at the foothills of Mt. Matutum and is celebrated for its cool climate and fertile land.
The municipality is a leading producer of fruits such as pineapple and passion fruit, and the annual Agten Tufi Festival highlights the town’s culture, agricultural bounty, and vibrant performances.
According to the proclamations, it is fitting and proper for the residents of Minalin and Tupi to have the opportunity to fully participate in and enjoy their respective celebrations.
