Makati Mayor Abby Binay has approved an ordinance providing an additional ₱1,000 cash incentive for the city’s registered senior citizens.
According to Binay, the enhanced benefit will be distributed starting this July.
Under City Ordinance No. 2025-104, the adjusted cash incentives for active Blu Card Program members and senior citizens holding a Makatizen Card will be distributed in two equal installments. The updated amounts are as follows: ₱4,000 for those aged 60–69, ₱5,000 for ages 70–79, ₱6,000 for ages 80–89, ₱11,000 for those aged 90–99, and ₱12,000 for seniors aged 101 and above.
“We are happy to inform our beloved senior Makatizens that they will be receiving a bigger midyear cash gift this July, and again in December for their yearend cash gift. We hope they could use the money for essential needs, especially with the rising cost of goods,” Binay said in a press release on Tuesday.
Binay stated that senior citizens aged 90 and above must have been Blu Card holders for at least five years, as certified by the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD), to receive the full incentive amounts under their respective age brackets. Otherwise, they will only be entitled to ₱6,000, similar to the benefit given to those aged 80 to 89.
She also explained that, under Section 3 of City Ordinance No. 2025-104, newly qualified senior citizens registered between January 1 and March 31 each year will be eligible to receive both the midyear and yearend cash incentives. Those registered from April 1 to September 30 will receive only the yearend gift, while individuals who sign up between October 1 and December 3 will not qualify for either.
The ordinance, which reflects the city’s continued commitment to improving the welfare of its elderly population, was signed by Binay following its approval by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on June 11, 2025.
