Makati honors SEA Games and Batang Pinoy athletes in recognition night

The Makati City government paid tribute to the excellence, discipline, and dedication of its homegrown athletes during a Gabi ng Pagkilala at Pasasalamat held at the Makati Coliseum.

Led by Mayor Abigail “Ate Nancy” Binay, the city personally awarded cash incentives to Makati athletes who brought pride to the city and the country through their strong performances in the SEA Games and the Batang Pinoy competitions.

SEA Games medalists received incentives of ₱30,000 for gold, ₱20,000 for silver, and ₱15,000 for bronze. Mayor Binay also granted additional personal incentives amounting to ₱10,000, ₱5,000, and ₱2,000, further recognizing the athletes’ hard work and commitment.

Young athletes who competed in Batang Pinoy were likewise rewarded, with gold medalists receiving ₱5,000, silver medalists ₱3,000, and bronze medalists ₱2,000.

City councilors Arlene Ortega, Mayeth Casal-Uy, Maribel Vitales, Ferdie Eusebio, Levy Ramboyong, King Yabut, Bernadette Sese, Ina Sarosa, Joel Ariones, and Tristan Pangilinan were also present at the event. They extended their congratulations and expressed admiration for the athletes who continue to bring honor to Makati and the Philippines.

City officials said the recognition program reflects Makati’s sustained commitment to sports development and its belief that investing in athletes is an investment in youth empowerment, discipline, and national pride.
