In an industry where turbulence is the norm, long-term alliances are rare. This September, Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) and Philippine Airlines (PAL) celebrate 25 years of partnership—a milestone built on trust, expertise, and shared commitment to safety.
What began in 1995 as a strategic alliance for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services has grown into one of the most enduring relationships in Asia’s aviation sector. For PAL, the collaboration meant access to world-class technical support without leaving the country. For Lufthansa Technik, it marked a firm foothold in a growing aviation market.
Over the decades, LTP has supported PAL’s evolving fleet, from Airbus A330s and A340s to Boeing 777s and the Airbus A320 family. Its Manila hangars have handled everything from heavy base maintenance and aircraft modifications to cabin upgrades and complex component repairs—ensuring PAL’s planes remain airworthy and ready to fly.
The partnership has weathered industry headwinds, including economic downturns and the pandemic. Yet, both companies stayed committed. “It’s a partnership built on trust, mutual respect, and dedication to safety,” said Holger Beck, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Philippines.
PAL President Richard Nuttall echoed the sentiment: “LTP has been a vital partner in upholding the safety and reliability that define our airline. Their support enables us to pursue global excellence while ensuring comfort and care for every passenger.”
As PAL continues modernizing its fleet, the alliance remains central to its strategy. For both companies, 25 years is not just a celebration of the past—it’s a launchpad for future collaboration and growth.
