The Land Transportation Office in Bicol (LTO-5) has commenced the distribution of approximately 200,000 vehicle license plates in the region, aiming to address the ongoing plate backlog.
“The focus of this activity is on the release of backlog plates for vehicles registered in 2017 and earlier, specifically green plates and seven-character license plates, in line with the agency’s ongoing efforts to address plate backlogs nationwide,” stated LTO Bicol Regional Director Allan Castillejos on Friday.
Jamie Rose Roperes, spokesperson for LTO Bicol, mentioned that they have intensified plate distribution efforts and collaborated with local government units, extending down to the barangay level, to ensure the efficient release of the plates.
She advised motorists that their long-awaited license plates can now be obtained, stating, “Please bring the following documents: Original Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration (OR/CR), a valid ID, an authorization letter, and a valid ID of the owner (if someone is representing them). For second owners, a Deed of Sale is also required.”
In addition, roadside checkpoints have been established to verify whether vehicles have updated plates. “For those without plates, on-site LTO teams are available to facilitate the claiming process,” Roperes added.
This initiative is part of LTO’s broader commitment to resolve the backlog of vehicle license plates and improve service delivery to motorists in the region.
