MANILA – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) warned taxi drivers against overcharging passengers and violating transport regulations as millions of Filipinos prepare to travel for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

In an advisory on Saturday, October 24, Acting LTFRB Chairperson Greg Pua Jr. reminded taxi operators and drivers to strictly follow authorized fare rates and provide proper service to commuters during the peak travel season.

Pua warned that overcharging, refusing passengers, and disrespectful behavior could result in administrative penalties, including the suspension or cancellation of a taxi operator’s Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).

The warning comes as transportation terminals nationwide prepare for an expected surge in passengers heading to their home provinces and other destinations for Undas 2026.

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) anticipates approximately 1.9 million passengers during the travel period.

Similarly, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) expects around 1.9 million passengers to pass through ports across the country.

Heavy passenger traffic is also anticipated at provincial bus terminals in Quezon City, Manila, Pasay City, Caloocan City, and Muntinlupa City.

The LTFRB emphasized the importance of complying with transportation regulations to protect commuters from abusive practices and ensure safe, fair, and orderly travel during the holiday rush.
