The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) called on drivers and motorists to remain calm and disciplined as the Holy Week exodus begins.

LTFRB Chairperson Vigor Mendoza II reminded public utility vehicle drivers that passenger safety rests on their shoulders, urging them to avoid confrontations and road rage incidents.

He said drivers should learn from past incidents, noting that conflicts on the road only lead to trouble and can ruin travel plans, while patience helps ensure the safety of families.

Mendoza also pointed out that with fuel prices already high, motorists should avoid situations that could result in additional expenses such as fines or legal costs.

Earlier, the agency issued special permits to nearly 1,300 buses to accommodate the expected surge in passengers during the holiday period.

Regional offices were likewise directed to intensify inspections of buses and other public utility vehicles, including checks on both vehicle condition and the fitness of drivers.

The LTFRB also urged transport operators to remind their drivers to follow traffic rules and practice restraint, stressing that Holy Week is a time for reflection and responsible behavior on the road.
