The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) turned over Php 3.3 million in fuel subsidies to transport groups in the Mimaropa region as part of efforts to speed up assistance for public utility vehicle operators and drivers.
Officials said the funds were released to accredited transport service entities, which will handle the distribution to their members across the region.
LTFRB Chairperson Vigor Mendoza said the move aimed to hasten the delivery of financial support amid rising fuel costs affecting the transport sector.
He said the agency has been closely monitoring developments on the ground and has been implementing measures to address delays in the subsidy rollout.
A total of 28 transport service entities are set to receive the funds, covering operators of jeepneys, buses, UV Express units and ride hailing services.
The checks were handed over to the LTFRB Mimaropa regional office, which will facilitate distribution to beneficiaries.
Authorities expect the funds to be released to drivers and operators within days, as part of a directive to ensure timely assistance.
The agency said it will continue monitoring the program and urged stakeholders to report any issues to help improve the distribution process.
