The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued show cause orders against nine motorcycle taxi platform providers amid an ongoing review of discrepancies in authorized ride-hailing units.
The agency said the latest orders brought to 30 the total number of transport network companies and motorcycle taxi platforms under investigation.
LTFRB said the firms operate mobile applications used for ride bookings, but only units with valid authority to operate issued by the agency are allowed under existing rules.
The probe stemmed from inconsistencies in unit lists submitted during the fuel subsidy distribution, which did not match LTFRB records.
Chairman Vigor said the companies were directed to submit written explanations and comply with existing regulatory requirements.
He added that the agency continued to push for greater transparency in platform operations, subject to legal limits on access to company data.
The LTFRB said it would evaluate the submissions to determine compliance with franchise conditions.
The hearing on the show cause orders is set for May 15.
