MANILA – The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has opened a new 24/7 paid parking facility at LRT-1 Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City, offering free parking for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens.
In a media release on Wednesday, the LRMC said the facility supports the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “Park and Ride” and “Road to Rail” initiatives, enabling commuters from southern Metro Manila and nearby provinces to leave their vehicles safely and bypass traffic jams.
The parking facility, operated by third-party partner GlobalParking Management, Inc., has a total capacity of 93 slots for four-wheeled vehicles and 100 slots for motorcycles. It is equipped with comprehensive security features, including CCTV surveillance, an automated boom gate system, and on-site parking attendants.
For four-wheeled vehicles, parking is priced at PHP40 for the first five hours, with succeeding hours charged at PHP10 per hour. Motorcycles and e-bikes are charged a flat rate of PHP30 for the first eight hours, followed by PHP5 for each succeeding hour. Parking is free of charge for PWDs and senior citizens, provided they present a valid ID upon transaction.
An overnight parking rate of PHP100 applies for vehicles parked between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Meanwhile, a lost parking ticket fee of PHP500, plus applicable parking fees, will be charged for unreturned or damaged tickets.
“Our goal at LRMC is to provide holistic mobility solutions that go beyond train operations. By providing a safe, accessible, and well-managed parking space at LRT-1 Dr. Santos Station, we are empowering commuters to easily transition from private vehicles to efficient rail transport,” LRMC president and CEO Enrico Benipayo said.
“This facility bridges road and rail transportation, making daily commutes faster, safer, and more convenient for everyone,” he added. (Raymond Carl M. Dela Cruz/PNA)
