Hot and humid weather continued to prevail across much of the country, with the state weather bureau warning that heat indices in several areas may reach dangerous levels.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said some locations could experience heat index values ranging from 42°C to 51°C.
In Metro Manila, the heat index was expected to range from 40°C to 42°C, while higher readings of up to 45°C were projected in parts of Isabela, Tarlac, and Agusan del Norte.
Authorities reminded the public to limit outdoor activities, especially from noon to afternoon, and to take precautions such as staying hydrated and using protection against extreme heat.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area that developed from former Tropical Cyclone Caloy was not expected to directly affect any part of the country.
Pagasa said the weather disturbance was last monitored about 495 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
The agency said the system was unlikely to intensify again and would continue to weaken over the Philippine Sea.
They added that the LPA may dissipate between Friday and Saturday if current conditions persist.
