Cloudy skies and scattered rains persisted across much of the country on Friday as a low pressure area combined with prevailing easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
State meteorologists said the weather disturbance was last monitored about 940 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao. At the same time, warm winds from the Pacific continued to influence conditions over Luzon and the Visayas.
Pagasa said the system was not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next one to two days, based on current observations.
Still, the trough or extension of the low pressure area was expected to bring rain over wide areas of the country in the coming days, contributing to unstable weather conditions.
In Mindanao, Caraga and the Davao Region were forecast to experience overcast skies with intermittent rain and thunderstorms due to the weather disturbance.
Meanwhile, the easterlies were seen to sustain generally warm and humid conditions across many parts of the country, despite the presence of rain clouds.
Forecasters said much of Luzon, including Metro Manila, as well as the Visayas would likely see partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms developing later in the day.
Elsewhere in Mindanao, localized thunderstorms were expected to trigger brief rain showers, particularly in the afternoon or evening, as shifting weather patterns continued to affect the region.
