More local celebrities are speaking up about their experiences with egg freezing, shedding light on fertility preservation as an empowering option for women.
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana called her journey “transformative,” highlighting the emotional and physical demands involved.
“My journey towards egg freezing has been a transformative experience—one that required a lot of research, emotional preparation, and support,” she shared.
“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved—their kindness, support, and expertise made all the difference.”
After years of planning, Carla finally went through the process in 2024 when Kato Clinic opened in Quezon City.
“A few years ago I had my first online consultant with Dr. Mendiola of Kato Clinic. Life happens so I have to postpone the process for a year and a half.”
“Another round of injections and tablet medication and I’ll go back in three to four days. So, yeah, let’s keep doing this,” she said.
Iza Calzado also revealed her egg freezing experience in 2019, calling it an empowering step toward future family planning.
“I do want to experience the process once, at least. I said I will commit to one baby, and let’s take it from there,” Iza said.
“I think it’s (freezing eggs) a very powerful move for women who know deep in their hearts that they don’t want to have kids early on. I wish that I froze my eggs when I was younger.”
Gretchen Fullido described egg freezing as “the best birthday gift” she gave herself.
“Been praying about this for a few years now and my dream finally came true! It’s the best birthday gift I can ever give to myself!”
“Now I can take control of my life, not rush on anything and have a baby in my own time, in God’s perfect time,” she wrote.
“One piece of advice from me: If you been thinking about it, Go Freeze it! I can honestly say that it’s the best decision of my life.”
Sam Oh, a Korean TV host, decided to freeze her eggs at 36.
“I didn’t know when my baby daddy was gonna show up and I wasn’t gonna sit around twiddling my thumbs,” she wrote in her blog.
“It sure gives me peace of mind to know that these eggs will be available to me if ever I’ll need them.”
Vina Morales also underwent the procedure and shared the financial and emotional realities of it.
“Oo, suwerte ako, I was able to save seven, healthy siya. Pero ‘yung pangalawa wala, hindi siya healthy,” she said.
“Gusto ko lang talaga may healthy eggs… gusto ko na rin magka-baby.”
She also spoke about opening up to her daughter, Ceana, regarding her desire for another child.
“Tumatawa lang, hindi siya yung nagsasabi na, ‘Oo, Mommy, I want, I want.’ Hindi siya super excited,” she admitted.
