Police assured the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos community that no shooting or bomb attack had taken place after a live bullet and a threatening note were found on campus Thursday.
Students discovered the ammunition placed on a written message inside the university’s Senior High School Building at around noon.
The note reportedly contained a threat against bullies, prompting the students to alert a security guard.
School authorities turned over the bullet and the note to personnel of Police Station 6, while students were sent home as a precaution during the security assessment.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit examined the recovered items as investigators worked to determine their source and the motive behind the message.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said Bacolod City Police Office director Col. Eugene Rebadomia had assured him that the situation was under control.
Gasataya clarified that authorities had found no evidence of a bomb threat or shooting incident and said the city government remained in close coordination with the police.
Police Regional Office Negros Island Region director Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño praised the students and school personnel for immediately reporting the discovery and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while the investigation continued.
