MANILA – Letran and San Beda University fight for survival in the race for the last playoff berth in Pool A of the 2026 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Unity Cup at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Friday.

Defending champion National University (NU), with a 3-0 slate, has advanced to the next round, leaving four other squads scrambling for the last slot.

The Lady Knights and Lady Red Spikers square off at 1 p.m.

Reigning NCAA champion Letran lost to NU, 21-25, 14-25, 19-25, last week and fell into a tie with the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA at 1-1.

San Beda, on the other hand, bowed to Perpetual, 30-28, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 14-16, for its second straight loss last Saturday.

Head coach Norman Miguel is not taking the Lady Altas lightly.

“Honestly, that’s the No. 1 thing I always remind the team about: never underestimate the skills of NCAA teams. I always tell them that these teams also train hard to win. The level of competition in the NCAA is rising,” he said.

Meanwhile, NU goes for a sweep of the group stage against Perpetual at 5 p.m.

In Pool B action, College of Saint Benilde battles Jose Rizal University at 3 p.m. Both have 0-1 cards.

The top two teams in each pool will advance to the next phase of the tournament. (PNA)
