Lenovo is charging ahead on its commitment to sustainability and responsible innovation, as it unveils its FY 2024/25 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report. This year marks a turning point for the company, with its first generation of ESG key performance indicators nearing completion and major milestones paving the way for even bolder ambitions.
In the newly released report, Lenovo affirms it is firmly on course to meet its 2030 emissions reduction goals and reiterates its long-term objective of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. These efforts are aligned with the global Science Based Targets initiative, reinforcing the company’s credibility in climate action.
Lenovo’s environmental strategy continues to gain momentum through its commitment to the circular economy. The company is ramping up the use of closed-loop recycled materials in its devices and offering a growing suite of sustainability services—from product repair and recycling to reuse—that help keep resources in circulation and extend product lifespans.
The company’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Lenovo earned top-tier recognitions this year, including:
- Platinum Recognition from EcoVadis
- AAA rating from MSCI ESG Ratings
- Gold Award for Best Corporate Governance and ESG from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)
- #8 ranking in Gartner’s Top 25 Global Supply Chain with a standout ESG Score of 9/10
On the social front, Lenovo’s global impact is also growing. For the second consecutive year, it was named a Best Workplace for People with Disabilities in the U.S. by Disability:IN. This recognition has now expanded to the U.K. and Brazil, thanks to Lenovo’s global adoption of inclusive workplace practices. Meanwhile, its signature “Love on Month of Service” volunteer initiative reached new heights, with a 44% year-over-year surge in lives impacted by employee-led community work around the world.
“This year marks a significant milestone for Lenovo’s ESG journey,” said Dave Carroll, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Responsibility Officer, who took the reins from Laura Quatela in March 2025. “With our initial ESG benchmarks nearing completion, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved and focused on laying the groundwork for our next chapter.”
Lenovo is also doubling down on governance, especially in the age of artificial intelligence. In 2024, it introduced a comprehensive AI governance policy that aligns with commitments to governments and institutions including Canada, UNESCO, Cercle InterL, and the European Commission. With Doug Fisher now serving as both Chief AI Officer and Chief Security Officer, Lenovo is ensuring that AI development remains secure, ethical, and aligned with its Smarter AI for All vision.
Looking ahead, Lenovo’s ESG strategy is all about collaboration—working hand-in-hand with customers, suppliers, and global partners through initiatives like the Lenovo 360 Circle. By bringing everyone to the table, the company aims to create a more sustainable and inclusive future for all.
