Las Nieves Schools in indigenous communities receive computers and sound systems

Three remote schools in Indigenous Peoples (IPs) communities in Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte, received computers and sound systems from the provincial government over the weekend.

On August 2, Las Nieves Mayor Karen Rosales handed over the equipment to the recipient schools and met with parents and school officials. “Most of the students and young learners from these schools are IPs from the different communities in the Bokbokon area,” said Las Nieves information officer Michael Mandahinog in an interview on Monday.

Mayor Rosales expressed gratitude to Governor Maria Angelica Rosedell Amante for providing essential equipment to enhance the quality of education for young learners in Bokbokon.

Bokbokon Elementary School received a refrigerator, while its annex school in Sitio Salaming was provided with two desktop computers, a printer, two laptops, two television sets, and a sound system. Additionally, the Bokbokon Day Care Center received three sound systems and two water dispensers.

“This educational support will help our teachers mold the future of our children through proper education,” Rosales stated, emphasizing the town government’s commitment to ensuring quality education for young learners.
