Laguindingan International Airport (LIA), under the management of Aboitiz InfraCapital Laguindingan Airport Corporation since May 2025, is now handling over 300 domestic flights each week—reinforcing its position as the “Golden Gateway to Mindanao.”

As of May 2025, LIA ranks as the sixth-busiest airport in the Philippines and the second busiest in Mindanao, following Davao’s Francisco Bangoy International Airport. The airport currently accommodates 337 weekly flights to key domestic destinations, including Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao.

Cebu, in particular, is highly accessible via Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), operated by Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation. From MCIA, travelers can connect to 29 domestic and 13 international destinations with ease.

Recent initiatives like Cebu Connect and CEB+ have greatly enhanced travel efficiency to and from MCIA.

Cebu Connect is MCIA’s signature transfer service, designed to ensure quick and seamless transitions between flights within the airport. For LIA passengers, this means smoother and faster connections to international destinations—without the need to transit through Manila.

Meanwhile, CEB+ strengthens MCIA’s role as the country’s “Main Tourism Transfer Gateway” by enabling seamless airport-to-seaport transfers. With just a five-minute shuttle ride to Mactan Wharf, travelers arriving from LIA can quickly board ferries to major island destinations across Central Visayas.

Modernization plans for LIA underway
Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) began the modernization of LIA in April 2025, following the awarding of a 30-year, PHP 12.75 billion concession in October 2024. This initiative aims to enhance LIA’s infrastructure to accommodate future international routes and increasing passenger demand.

A key upgrade includes a new, user-friendly Flight Information Display System (FIDS), which offers improved visibility, accuracy, and real-time updates—making it easier for travelers to track flight details and enjoy a hassle-free airport experience.

Expansion plans across key regional airports
In addition to Laguindingan, AIC will soon take over operations at Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA)—the Philippines’ ninth-busiest airport—starting June 2025. The PHP 4.53 billion project involves upgrading passenger terminals, installing advanced systems, and improving both airside and landside facilities under a 30-year concession.

LIA, BPIA, and MCIA are all part of AIC’s broader infrastructure development strategy, which aims to deliver world-class travel experiences rooted in Filipino hospitality, innovation, and seamless connectivity across the country.

As part of the Aboitiz Group, AIC is committed to driving sustainable growth in the Philippine aviation sector through its integrated approach to infrastructure and technology.
