Sen. Panfilo Lacson said additional evidence had surfaced in his investigation into alleged irregular infrastructure projects in Taguig City, suggesting that the case against the questioned projects was continuing to grow.
In a social media post on Friday, Lacson claimed the list of findings had expanded and indicated that more evidence had strengthened the allegations, although he did not disclose specific details.
The senator has been questioning several infrastructure projects in Taguig, the political stronghold of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
Cayetano has repeatedly denied the existence of ghost projects in the city and challenged Lacson to present proof supporting his allegations instead of focusing solely on Taguig.
Lacson’s latest remarks came after he earlier flagged what he described as possible duplicate appropriations involving two separate Php 100-million allocations that appeared to fund the same slope protection project.
He also said his team had identified three more slope protection projects worth Php 100 million each under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, increasing the total value of the projects under review to Php 2.385 billion.
The National Bureau of Investigation has begun looking into Lacson’s allegations, while Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Sen. Erwin Tulfo said the panel could review the findings once the senator formally submits the supporting documents.
As of Friday, Cayetano had yet to issue a response to Lacson’s latest statements.
