La Salle Greenhills shifted its classes online on Thursday, Aug. 27, after receiving a security concern that prompted the Mandaluyong City school to take precautionary measures.
The school said students from preschool to Grade 12, including those under its International Baccalaureate and Alternative Education programs, would attend synchronous online classes instead of reporting to campus.
La Salle Greenhills said it received information about the security concern Wednesday night and had already identified its source, but did not disclose details about the reported threat.
The administration said the late timing prevented authorities and school officials from completing safety protocols and an onsite investigation before classes were scheduled to begin Thursday morning.
It opted to keep students away from campus while the necessary security measures were being carried out, citing safety concerns and recent incidents reported in the news.
Classes on Friday, Aug. 28, will proceed asynchronously online as previously scheduled, according to the school.
The precautionary move came a day after San Beda College Alabang in Muntinlupa City also suspended face-to-face classes following what it described as an unverified safety concern.
The Southern Police District later said authorities conducted a security sweep at the San Beda Alabang campus and subsequently declared the school cleared and safe.
